Thomas K. McCarthy age 75 of Clinton passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at the University of Iowa Hospitals. Funeral services will be held 9:00 AM Saturday at Prince of Peace Parish in Clinton. Visitation will be held Friday 4 - 7 PM at the Pape Funeral Home. Following the funeral service, cremation rites will be accorded. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Prince of Peace. Thomas was born on Nov. 16, 1938 in Clinton, the son of Noel and Colette (Hohenhorst) McCarthy. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1957 and attended Clinton Community College. He was a veteran serving in the US Air Force. He married Patricia Hayes on May 2, 1961 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waterloo, IA. Thomas worked at Chemplex/Equistar as a Process Control Technician for over 30 years, retiring in 1999. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish, where he was an active volunteer. He enjoyed hiking, biking, music, going to air shows, eagle watching, the river, and his grandkids’ activities.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Patricia of Clinton; two sons, Chris (Gail) McCarthy of Ankeny, IA, Brian (Joni) McCarthy of Woodward, IA; a daughter, Ann (Mark) Kohl of Clinton; 8 grandchildren, Sarah and Rachel McCarthy, Aaron and Jenna McCarthy, Brianna and Cari Kohl, Rachel (Ryan) Kennedy, and Emily Hardinger; 3 great- grandchildren, Gavin, Kinzlee, Harper; and two sisters, Sr. Jane McCarthy OSF of Clinton and Kathleen (Digby) Willard of Rowland Park, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents.
