The Clinton Herald; Thursday May 14, 1914; p. 8 Thomas Murphy Funeral Friday The funeral of aged resident will be held Friday morning from St. Irenaeus church at 9 o'clock Funeral services for the late Thomas Murphy who passed away Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock at his home, 622 North Fourth street, will be held Friday morning at 9 o'clock, with services at St. Irenaeus church with interment in Calvary cemetery.
Thomas Murphy was born in Ireland February 15, 1829, when a young man came to this country, settled in Clinton county, where he was united in marriage a few years later. Followed the occupation of farming for a number of years, then moved in this city, where he engaged in the lumber business in saw mill days. The last few years he had faithfully and efficiently served as janitor of the east school. The deceased was one of the oldest residents of this city and was esteemed by all who knew him.
Those left to mourn his death are his wife and three daughters, Miss Francis Murphy of Chicago, and Miss Mary and Miss Jennie and also one sister Mrs. Mary Laughlin of this city.
