Violet Darline Steeg, 83, of Clinton, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Mercy Living Center – North - Clinton.

Funeral Services will be 10:30am , Friday, January 3, 2014 at the First Baptist Church - Clinton. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00-7:00pm at the First Baptist Church – Clinton Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Fuenral Homes & Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Paul, Joe, Scott, Greg, Tyler and Milton Steeg. Violet Darline Merrill was born on March 11, 1930 in Jefferson, South Dakota, the daughter of William and Eldora (Moon) Merrill. She married Milton Steeg on July 20, 1947 in Elk Point, South Dakota; he died on May 2, 2006.

Violet was employed at the Clinton Garment Company for 24 years retiring in 1987.

Violet was a member of the First Baptist Church, Clinton, where she was very active. She loved to sew and enjoyed making clothes for her grandchildren. She also loved to make afghans and quilts.

Violet is survived by two sons, David Steeg of Clinton, IA, and Gerald and his wife Elsie Steeg of Fulton, IL; her daughter, Maureen (Randy) Annear of Clinton, IA;; grandchildren: Scott (Lori Pladna) Steeg, Greg Steeg, Joe Steeg, Paul (Melissa Birt) Steeg, Milton (Stacy) Steeg and Renee (Gilbert Stralow) Steeg; great-grandchildren: Tyler, Kyle, Kelsey and Austen Steeg, Keegan and Hannah Birt-Steeg, and Nicholas and Taylor Christofferson; two brothers: William (Delores) Merrill of North Sioux City, South Dakota, and John (Shirley) Merrill of Sioux City, Iowa; two brothers: Marie Raley of Gillette, Wyoming, and Sandy (Roy) Albeck of Holliday Island, Arkansas; and several nieces and nephews.

Violet was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her son: Marcus; daughters: Sara and Dawn; 1 granddaughter, Janelle, and one brother.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to First Baptist Church, Clinton.
