Phyllis A. Steen, 66, of Camanche, Iowa passed away Friday, January 31, 2014 at The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Honoring her wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. A private family prayer service will be held on Wednesday, February 5, with Rev. Josh Meyer officiating. A private family burial will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery in Camanche. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

Phyllis was born on January 28, 1948 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Herman and Dorothy (Manning) Tholen. She was a graduate of Camanche High School.
Phyllis was united in marriage to Russell G. Steen on April 18, 1970 in Clinton, Iowa.

She was employed with First National Bank until choosing to stay home to raise her family.

Phyllis was an avid reader and enjoyed her position as Treasurer of the Camanche Friends of the Library. She loved traveling with her husband and spending time with her grandkids.

Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Russell; her two daughters, Taryn (Mike) Determan of Camanche, IA. and Melissa (Ryan) Richter of Clinton, IA.; two brothers, Russell (Pam) Tholen of Florida and Roger (Sandy) Tholen of Clinton, IA.; one sister, Mrs. Pam (Doug) Ryan of Webster City, IA.; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Patricia.
