R. Bernice Van Sant, 96, of Clinton, died Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at the Alverno.

Memorial Services will be held later this spring. Following her wishes her body will be cremated. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting her obituary at www.snellzornig.com.

Mrs. VanSant was born March 20, 1917 in Hanley Falls, Minnesota, to Henry and Ella (Bliesmer) Evermann. She moved to Clinton as a young child and lived the rest of her life in Clinton. She was educated in the Hanley Falls and Clinton schools.

Bernice married Loren F. Van Sant, September 14th, 1938, in Clinton. He died April 26, 1983. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church since age 10, where she served as financial secretary for 30 years, was active with the Docus Circle, WELCA, and Editors Club. She was a Girl Scout leader for two troops, a member of Retired Senior Volunteer Program delivering meals for many years. She belonged to Samaritan Auxiliary working in the Gift Shop at Samaritan South. She also enjoyed traveling.

Survivors include daughter, Janice Kuchar, of Windsor, Wisconsin; 5 grandsons: Benjamin (Tawnie) Redington, Andrew (Carolyn) Redington, Chad (Angela) Redington, Michael (Kimberly) Kuchar, and Steven Kuchar; 5 great-grandchildren; her brother, Henry “Bud”(Elizabeth) Evermann of Lincoln, NE; and eighteen nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter Sharon, one brother and four sisters.
