Donald L. Swearinger Sr., 68, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away Friday morning, December 20, 2013, at Genesis Medical Center-DeWitt.

He was born on April 18, 1945, in Virden, Illinois, a son of James and Mildred (Orr) Swearinger.

Survivors include his companion, Teresa Ferguson; daughter, Trisha (Matt) Penca of Geneseo, Illinois; sons, Donald L. (Heidi) Swearinger Jr. of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Jacob (Breona) Swearinger, Donahue, Iowa; a sister, a brother and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother and eight siblings.

There will be no visitation or service. Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home in Virden, Illinois, assisted the family.

Schultz Funeral Home of DeWitt, cared for the family locally.
