Anna Emily Pries, 89, of DeWitt, died Saturday morning, December 14, 2013, at Westwing Place, DeWitt, Iowa.

The former Anna Bucks was born May 21, 1924, to Gustave and Florence (Putnam) Bucks, in Davenport, Iowa. She graduated Valedictorian of her class at LeClaire High School. Anna was united in marriage to Albert Pries on February 17, 1951, at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Davenport. She worked for Iowa Mutual Insurance Company in DeWitt until retirement in 1974. The couple farmed 32 years in Scott and Clinton Counties before retiring to DeWitt in January of 1983.

Anna attended DeWitt Evangelical Free Church, and was a member of the Grand Mound American Legion Auxiliary, the Plus 60 Club, and AARP. Her favorite pastimes were reading, traveling, and following sports, Hawkeyes in particular. Albert and Anna visited all 49 continental United States together.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Albert; nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Pastor Mike Rollings will officiate. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Davenport, Iowa.
