Duane C. Goetzl, 82, of Clinton, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at the Alverno Health Care Facility.

A mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM, Monday, June 10, 2013 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Clinton. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 PM, Sunday, June 9, 2013 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory, where a Parish vigil service will be conducted at 6 PM. Visitation will also be held at the church from 9:30 AM until the service hour on Monday. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery.

Duane was born at home in Shell Lake, WI, to Roy J. and Marie Elizabeth (Peters) Goetzl. He graduated from Shell Lake High School in 1948. He enlisted and served for four years in the Air Force from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean War. Duane married JoAnne Jess on April 12, 1958 in Clinton.

Duane was employed for 36 years with E.I. DuPont, Clinton, IA, as a machine operator. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish, Clinton. His hobbies included vegetable gardening, lawn maintenance and meeting his buddies at “the office”.

Survivors include wife, JoAnne; sons, Michael (Naomi) Goetzl of Phoenix, AZ; Mark (Tracy) Goetzl of LaPlace, LA and Brad Goetzl of Tipton, IA; daughters, Robin Warring of Chandler, AZ and Anne (Joe) Leonard of Clinton, IA; seven grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; sister, Patricia (Paul) Simonds of Racine, WI and brother, Gordon Goetzl of Clinton, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Don Goetzl.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Prince of Peace Building Fund or a favorite charity.
