Raymond E. Schumacher, 90, of Clinton, died Saturday, June 1, 2013 surrounded by his family at Mercy Living Center – South.

There will be no services of visitation, the body has been cremated. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting his obituary at www.snellzornig.com

Raymond Edward Schumacher was born on May 18, 1923 in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Edward and Elsie (Zastrow) Schumacher. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Marines. He married June McQuillen on January 25, 1947 in Davenport.

Raymond was employed with International Paper as the shipping department clerk retiring in 1986. He was also employed with the Curtis Company.

Raymond was a devoted member of the Clinton Church of Christ where he was a trustee, elder and Sunday School teacher. He loved to tend to his garden and lawn. He enjoyed camping, woodworking and painting.

Raymond is survived by his wife: June of Clinton; his children (Terese Schumacher), wife of deceased Steven Schumacher, Susan Whalen of Camanche, Jeff (MaryAnna) Schumacher of Pacific Grove, California, Jerry (Tami) Schumacher of Bakersfield, California, Mindy Schumacher of Clinton, and Melanie (Brian) Drury of Clinton; 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bill, a son Steve and grandson, Paul Steven.

Ray was born in May. In January he married June. He passed away on June first. Ray always thought of June first.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Clinton Church of Christ.
