Donald H. “Don” Peters age 88 of Clinton passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at Bickford Assisted Living. In following Don’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at the Pape Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will begin at 3:00 P.M. followed by the AMVETS Military Rites. A memorial has been established. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery at a later date.

Don was born in Clinton on May 26, 1925, the son of Ernest and Lucinda (Voss) Peters. He attended Lyons High School. Don served with the U.S. Army in Korea during W.W. II. He married Doris Mathiesen on May 21, 1950. Don was employed as an electrician at E.I. DuPont for 30 years. He was a member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church, the AMVETS, (where he served as a flag folder with the Honor Guard), the VFW, and the Oddfellows. Don was actively involved with the Veteran’s Memorial and Veteran’s Highway. He enjoyed spending time with and following his grandchildren’s sports and activities. He and his brother, Errol were on the September 2011 Honor Flight to Washington. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing and golfing.

Don is survived by his wife, Doris; four children, Lynn Peters-Holland of Clinton, Laura (Peter) Vaughn of San Jose, CA; Dona (Daniel) Bark of Cordova and Stephen (Patricia) Peters of Chanhassen, MN; 11 grandchildren: Jeremiah Holland (Cara), James Bark (Angela), Andrew Holland, Stephanie Shirley (Jason), Audra Bark-Adams (Chris), Eric Siebeneicher, Nathan Holland, Elyce Bark-Billany (Nathan), Kyle Bentz, Andrea Peters, Ashley Peters; 6 great grandchildren: Dade, Kyrie & Aayla Holland, Alivia & James Donald Bark, Annalynn Adams; a sister, Beverly Evans of Clinton; a brother, Errol (Alice) Peters of Clinton and several nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, one niece and one nephew. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com
