Dorothy E. Huelse, age 88 of Clinton, was called out of this life on Monday July 29, 2013 at Eagle Point Nursing Center, where she had been a resident the last three years. Visitation will be held Tuesday Aug. 6th from 11AM - Noon at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Funeral services will follow at Noon at St. John’s. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Ron Huelse, John Huelse, Rob Faulkner. Following the graveside service, family and friends are invited to lunch at Rastrelli’s. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church or Eagle Point Nursing Home. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.

Dorothy was born June 15, 1925 in Clinton, the daughter of Hans and Bertha (Reinke) Huelse. She was baptized July 19, 1925 at St. John’s Lutheran Church by Pastor Carl Hesse, and confirmed March 17, 1940, by Pastor Taegler. Dorothy graduated from Lyons High School in 1944. She worked 35 years at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. She also worked part time at the Clinton and Lyons Branch Libraries and volunteered at food pantry at Grace Church.

Dorothy belonged to Mary Martha Society, Lamp Lighters, and Christian Aid Committee, and the Over 50 Club at St. John’s. Dorothy also taught Sunday School. She was a member of the Northwestern Bell Pioneer Club. She had enjoyed ceramics, hook rug making, embroidery work, and playing cards.

Dorothy is survived by her two nephews, Ron (Nancy) Huelse of Knoxville, IA and John (Kitty) Huelse of Parkersburg, WV; and her niece, Miriam Johansen of Lafayette, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother, Martin, and older brother, Edward.
