Edward R. Collopy age 89 of Clinton passed away Thursday, July 4, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center North. Visitation will be 3:00 to 6:00 PM Wednesday July 10, 2013 at the Pape Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 6:00 PM Wednesday at the Funeral Home. Following the service cremation rites will be accorded and burial will be in the St. Irenaeus Calvary cemetery.

Ed was born on August 12, 1923, the son of Paul J. and Minnie (Eastman) Collopy. He graduated from Eagle Grove High School. Ed was a Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy, serving in the Pacific Theater during W.W. II. He married Mary Terese McDonald on April 19, 1947 in Clinton. Mary passed away on March 18, 1989. Ed was employed with the Chicago Northwestern, Milwaukee Road and Rock Island Lines railroads. He later worked as a maintenance mechanic at ALCOA, retiring in 1985. He was an avid antique collector, loved to repair things and had volunteered at the Clinton County Historical Society.

Ed is survived by two sons, Steven (Deb) Collopy of Epworth and Christopher (Deb) Collopy of Clinton; two grandchildren, Nick (Jackie) Collopy of Minooka, IL and Ashley (Nick) Mueller of Milwaukee; a great grandson, Kellen Collopy; two sisters, Evelyn Finley of Des Moines and Ellen Nelson of Waupaca, WS; two brothers, Lloyd (Helen) Collopy of Lake City, MN and Bill Collopy of Riverside, CA and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials may be made to the Delmar Depot Railroad Museum, Delmar, Iowa. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com
