Douglas G. Lant age 59 of Clinton passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center South following a courageous seven year battle against cancer. Cremation rites have been accorded. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at the Pape Funeral Home.

Doug was born in Burlington on December 22, 1953, the son of Gale and Barbara (Holst) Lant. He graduated from Burlington High School in 1972 and later attended Southeastern Community College. Doug served with the United States Navy during the Vietnam War on board the U.S.S. Anchorage. He married Linda (Latta) Meyer on October 31, 1977 in Oquawka, IL. Doug had worked with Lehigh Leopold Furniture in Burlington, Collis Company in Clinton.

Doug enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, fishing, hunting, camping, golfing, playing softball, bowling, traveling, and going to the casino. He was an avid Chicago Cub and Bear fan.

Doug is survived by his wife Linda, children, Tony (Dena) Lant of Preston, Crystal Lant (fiancé, Ryan Pessman)of Clinton and Natasha (Stephen) Schwertley of Littleton, CO; a step-daughter, Jennifer Meyer of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren, Brady and Ivan Lant, Dylan and Ryder Schwertley, and Blake and Bailee Pessman; two step-grand daughters, Lexi Theisen and Alyssa Pessman; a sister, Mary Beth (Chuck) Lant-Brockway of Virginia and aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents and a special uncle, Kenny Jones. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com
