She maintained a positive attitude in spite of long term macular degeneration and continued to take her walker for a spin around the block. Bernice was a wonderful mother and role model to her children and grandchildren; wife to Vernon, who was a member of the Clinton Fire Department for 32 years. He was a member of the International Association of Firefighters and active with civic affairs. She was the one who kept the home fires burning.

Bernice is survived by her three children, Steve (Kaye) Cook of Morgantown, WV, Vicki (Bennett) Baack of Columbus, OH, and Greg Cook (Jeri) of Clinton, IA; 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a sister. She relished the thought of rejoining Vern.
