LONG GROVE — Richard (Rick) A. Hale, age 58, of Long Grove, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at the New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington, North Carolina.

A visitation will be held May 26, 2013 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Calvary Lutheran Church, Sabula, Iowa. A funeral service will be held on Monday May 27, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Sabula, Iowa with Reverend Robert Krueger officiating. Burial will take place in the Sterling Cemetery, Sabula, Iowa. A memorial fund has been established in Rick’s memory. Rick was born on September 4, 1954 in Savanna, Illinois. He was the son of Jerry and Ruby (Marburger) Michaelsen. He graduated from Sabula High School in the Class of 1972. Rick married Lisa Rehmstedt on August 31, 1991 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Truman, Wisconsin.

Rick worked for DuPont in Clinton, Iowa, before becoming an Ammunition Inspector with the Department of the Army in 1986. He was currently working at the Rock Island Arsenal. With his job, Rick traveled all over the United States and world, although he enjoyed being at home with his family and friends the most. Rick enjoyed antiquing, golfing, NASCAR, mowing with his John Deere, working in his shed, helping others, and talking with strangers and friends alike. Rick would do anything for the ones he loved.

Rick will be dearly missed by his wife, Lisa, and two daughters, Miranda and Kirsten of Long Grove; his mother, Ruby Michaelsen of Sabula, Iowa; two nieces, Dani (Dusty) Pratt of New Liberty, Iowa, Donna (Rick) Marchiori of Breckenridge, Colorado, and nephews, Ryan (Shae) Hale of Lisbon, Iowa and Bryan Rehmstedt of Eldridge, Iowa; great nieces and nephews, Cory, Taylor, Raven, Emma, Addison, and Zaiden; brother-in-law, Mark (Marlys) Rehmstedt of Eldridge, Iowa; sister-in-law Joni Rehmstedt of Eldridge, Iowa; several aunts and uncles, Don (Helen) Marburger of Sabula, Iowa, Leroy (Kathy) Michaelsen of Clinton, Iowa, Gary (Mary Jo) Michaelsen of Sparta, Wisconsin, Jim (Lori) Michaelsen of Camanche, Iowa; and numerous cousins.

Rick is preceded in death by his father Jerry Michaelsen, his brother, Randy Hale, grandparents, Earlo and Eva Marburger and Don and Edna Michaelsen, uncle, Russ Marburger and in-laws, Jack and Eila Rehmstedt.
