Geraldine was born in Clinton on July 4, 1924, the daughter of Francis Raymond “Ray” and Gladys Della (Keithly) Madden. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1942 and from the Chicago School of Business in 1943. She married Charles “Chuck” Robert Abbott on October 27, 1946 in Rock Island. Chuck passed away in 1995. Geraldine was employed with Sanitary Farm Dairy and later with Clinton Corn Processing Company, later A.D.M. until her retirement. She loved her family, especially her grandsons and great granddaughter. She served on the Board of Directors at the Regency and was a longtime active member of the Agatha Auxiliary at Jane Lamb Hospital where she was very active in the Agatha Puppet Group and craft group. She enjoyed baking, was skilled in crafts, needle work and had a dry sense of humor.

Geraldine is survived by her daughter, Faye (Harold) Abbott Alexander Dittemore of Fremont, OH; her son, Charles “Chuck” (Beckie) Raymond Abbott of Davenport; two grandsons, Kevin (Nichole) Sherman Alexander of Troy, OH and Matthew Charles Abbott of Davenport; a great granddaughter, Emily Elizabeth Alexander; a brother-in-law, Roger Smith of Anamosa, IA; three nieces, Maureen Smith Baker, Barbara Smith Yarber and Gail Smith Meade and three nephews, Harry L. Schawl, Keith L. Schawl and Brent Shawl. As the first person to move into the Regency Geraldine also leaves behind her “extended family” at the Regency who meant so much to her the last 15 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two sisters, Charlene Regina Madden Smith and Patricia L. Madden Schawl. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com
