Mr. Gerald D. "Jerry" Horner, 91, of McCausland, Iowa, died Monday morning, April 1, 2013 at home.

Mr. Horner was born Gerald Delbert Horner, October 21, 1921, in McCausland, Iowa, to George Leon and Laura (Rasche) Horner. Following graduation from High School, Jerry served in the Navy during World War II from 1942 until 1946. Following service, Jerry attended Barber College and practiced barbering, first in Clinton with his dad and then in McCausland for many years.

Jerry was a member of the American Legion and VFW. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman and trapper. Jerry was the oldest resident of McCausland and was considered the town historian.

Surviving are numerous cousins.

Preceding Jerry in death were his parents.

A visitation will be at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2013. A Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 5, 2013 in the Funeral Home. Entombment and military rites will be held at Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials are suggested to the McCausland Fire Department.
