Sara J. (Mrs. Harold) Meggers, 71, of Eldridge, Iowa, died Saturday morning, April 6, 2013, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013. A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013 in the Funeral Home with the Reverend Ron Rafferty officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.

Pallbearers will be Mike Meggers, David Meggers, Gary Whitcomb, Mark Meggers, Scott Meggers, Bart Phillips, Roger Riley and Chris Sieverding. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Meggers, Don Meggers, Robert Lee and Bill Hanesworth.

Mrs. Meggers, the former Sara Jane Rands was born August 11, 1941, to Charles and Clara (Sadler) Rands. She graduated from DeWitt High School as well as Beauty School. On December 3, 1961, Sara was united in marriage to Harold Meggers at Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt. In addition to raising their family, she worked at La Petite Beauty Shop in DeWitt. Sara later owned and operated her own shop, Country Flair Beauty Salon in Donahue, Iowa.

Sara was an avid Hawkeye fan. She was active in the Jaycettes for many years. Sara loved spending time with her family, adored her grandchildren and great-granddaughter, and spent much time watching the cooking channel on cable.

Surviving are her husband, Harold; children, Penny (Roger) Riley of DeWitt, Pam Meggers of Eldridge, Mike (Michelle) Meggers of Bettendorf, Iowa, and David Meggers of Eldridge; grandchildren, Gary Lee Whitcomb, Stacey Whitcomb, Audra (fiance, Chris Sieverding) Dietz, Madison Meggers, Mitch Meggers and Emma Riley; a great-granddaughter, Bayleigh Mae; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Barbara Rands, DeWitt; a niece, Melissa (Bart) Phillips of Ames, Iowa.

Preceding Sara in death were a grandson, Joshua Dietz, her parents and a nephew, Scott Rands.
