Verna E. Swanson age 96 of Clinton, died Monday March 25, 2013 at Eagle Point Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday at St. John Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held 10:00 am until the service hour at the church. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Jeff, Paul, and Karl Greve, David and Steven Schwarz, and Jeff Ebensberger. Online condolences can be left at www.papefh.com.

Verna was born on March 6, 1917 in Elk River Township, IA, the daughter of William and Anna (Herrmann) Eickert. She married John Swanson on April 4, 1948 in Clinton; he died in 1985. She was a homemaker and had worked at the former Samaritan South. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and St. John Ladies Aid. She enjoyed her flowers and gardening.

Verna is survived by several nieces, nephews, and great nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three sisters.
