Eldon J. Wiese age 81 of Charlotte died Thursday March 28, 2013 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf. Funeral services will be held 10:30 am Monday April 1, 2013 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Charlotte. Visitation will be held 3 – 7 pm Sunday March 31st at the Pape Funeral Home, Clinton. Burial will be at Glahn Cemetery near Goose Lake. Casket bearers will be his grandsons. Online condolences can be left at www.papefh.com.
Eldon was born on August 23, 1931 in Clinton County, Iowa, the son of John A. and Louise (Kunde) Wiese. He graduated from Charlotte High School in 1948. He was a mechanic in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Lola Glahn on July 17, 1955 in Charlotte. Eldon farmed and milked cows on the family farm near Charlotte his entire life. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Charlotte, where he served as an elder and trustee. He was a member of the E.A.A., the R.E.C., where he was director, and served on the Clinton County Conservation Board.
Eldon is survived by his wife, Lola Wiese of Charlotte; three sons, Dean (Linda) Wiese of Charlotte, Duane (Deb) Wiese of Camanche; and John (Janice) Wiese of Clinton; seven grandchildren, Justin (Sara) Wiese, Jared Wiese, Jennifer Wiese, Danielle (Justin) Sampson, Steven Wiese, Rebecca Wiese, and Emily (Karl) Dimmer: six great grandchildren; and a sister, Donna (Robert) Wirth of Elwood, IA, and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
