Jerry L. Smith age 70 of Clinton passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at his home. There will be no visitation. In following Jerry’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded. Services will be held at a later date. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Online condolences can be left at www.papefh.com.

Jerry was born in Toronto, Iowa on August 28, 1942. He was adopted by Edgar R. and Leila (Reinking) Smith. He served with the U.S. Army, stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War. Jerry married Penolope (Penny) Hampsher on May 6, 1967, in Moline, IL. He was employed as an over-the-road truck driver for many years and later owned Jerry’s Tarp Repair in Thomson, IL. He was of the Christian faith.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Penny of Clinton; his sister Judy (Richard) Mann of Davenport; two grandchildren, Amanda Smith and George Bowling, III; a daughter-in-law, Christina Bowling of Murray, KY; two half-brothers, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Corey and a sister, Janie.
