DEWITT-Mrs. Carl (Gladys) Schmidt, 77, of DeWitt, died Monday in her home.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Schultz-McGinnis Funeral Home, DeWitt, with Dr. F.H. Schoenbohm, Visitation pastor of Zion Lutheran Church, Clinton, officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today.
Pallbearers will be Ralph Johnson, Jerry Barnes, Bud Hummel. Delbert Hoffman, Merlyn McKillip and Jim Hetrick.
Mrs. Schmidt was born Jun 25, 1908, in Clinton, to Peter and Marie Johnson Petersen. She married Carl A. Schmidt. April 19, 1934, in Elvira. She retired as a cook at DeWitt Community Hospital and had managed Congregate Meals. Mrs. Schmidt was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ where she was a member of the Women’s Fellowship.Survivors include her husband; two daughters, mrs. Robert (Carol) Hopkins of Port Washington, Wis.; and Sharon Schmidt of Wheaton, Ill.; a son, Aimer of DeWitt; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister. Doris Outzch of Clinton; and a brother, Leo Petersen of Ariz. (1985)
