JENS C. HOENICKE

Jens C. Hoenicke, 72, Goose Lake, died Friday in Mercy Hospital, Clinton.
Funeral services for Mr. Hoenicke will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Elvira Lutheran church, the Rev. Roger Hopenworth officiating. Burial will be in Center Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Irvin Petersen, Merle Eickert, Delbert Christiansen, Keith Jensen, Kenneth Mills and Casey Hoenicke. The body will be taken Monday noon from Pape Funeral Home to the church. Visitation at the funeral home will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday.
Mr. Hoenicke was born Aug. 28, 1899 in Halstedt, Germany, son of *Herman and Bertha Jensen Hoenicke. He cam to the United States with his parents in 1903. He farmed in Goose Lake area until he retired in 1964.
Mr. Hoenicke was married Feb. 10, 1931 in Clinton to Johannna Christiansen.
Mr. Hoenicke is survived by his wife, two daughters Mrs. Edward (Bernita) Wing of Clinton and Mrs. LaVern (Wilma) Thillmony of Spragueville; one brother, *Harold Hoenicke of Reddick, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Johanna Petersen of Clinton; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

* Herman Hoenicke was not his father. Bertha Jensen had married Hanse Hansen in Germany, had four children; one child died in infancy, Jens, Carstn and then came to US, settled in Hale, Ia, where Johanna was born. Do not know if Bertha was divorced or widdowed...but she married Herman Hoenicke March 11, 1909.
Harold Hoenicke is the son of Herman Hoenicke and Bertha.
