Mr. Carl S. Jessie, 94, of DeWitt, Iowa, died Monday afternoon, January 7, 2012, at Westwing Place, DeWitt.

Carl Simmons Jessie was born January 11, 1918, in Adair County, Kentucky, to Dave and Ida (Compton) Jessie. He married Dorothy Abney in 1938, and later remarried. Carl worked as a pizza chef much of his life, owning and operating a pizza restaurant in Chicago for many years.

Carl enjoyed music, playing the guitar and singing. He also enjoyed building things with his hands.

Surviving are daughters, Patricia Evans and Margaret Ryan both of DeWitt; a son, Carl D. Jessie of Florida; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Preceding Carl in death were his wives, Dorothy and Rose, his parents and brothers and sisters.

At his request, no visitation or service will be held.
