Carl Herman Hass, 64, of 1515-13th Ave. S. of Clinton, died in Jane Lamb Hospital at 1:45 p.m. Monday where he had been a patient for two weeks. The body is at the Snell Funeral Home where friends may call at 7:30 p.m. today. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Zion Lutheran Chuech where thebody will be taken at noon to remain until the funeral hour. The Rev. M.S. Bredlow will officiate. Carl Herman Hass was born February 7,1893 in rural Jackson County, the son of John P. Hass and Theresa Heneke Hass. He was a veteran of World War I. On January 7, 1925 he married Sikie Andersen in Clinton. For the last 24 years he has been employed by Clinton Corn Processing Co. having residided in Clinton the last 32 years. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose. Surviving are his wife; two sons, Arnold of Clinton and Wayne with the U.S. Navy in Long Beach, California; three daughters Mrs. Harold Peahl (Jeanette), Mrs. Harold Anderson (Elaine) and Janet Marie at home; one brother Henry Hass in Moscow, Iowa and two sisters, Mrs, Elmer Fleming (Emma) of Preston and Mrs. Earl Kitchen(Marie) of Calamus. He was preceded in death by his parents one brother, Ed of Boise, Idaho and one son Emmet. He will be buried in Preston Cemetery with his parents and his son. This was a funeral with military honors including a 21 gun salute. He died of pancreatic cancer in March of 1957.
