Robert L. Witt, 57, of Decatur, Ill., formerly of Clinton, died Monday at St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Decatur. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Dawson & Wikoff Colonial Chapel, North, Decatur. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur.
Mr. Witt was born April 1, 1933 in Clinton to Henry J. and Marie L. O'Brien Witt. He married Joy C. Arthur Oct. 3, 1959.
He was a high school teacher for 32 1/2 years at Eisenhower High School, Decatur and was also a coach in basketball, football, cross country track and baseball. He started the wrestling program at the high school.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Illinois High School Basketball Association. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Craig A. of Round Lake Beach, Ill.; two daughters, Mrs. Vincent (Marcia) Angichiodo of Phoenix, Ariz. and Karen M. Witt of Decatur; two grandsons; and a brother, Vernon H. Witt of Clinton.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
