Bertha K. Rickertsen, 93, of Charlotte, died Monday at Westwing Place, DeWitt.
Visitation will be at the Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Service of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Charlotte. The Rev. Terry Ellis will be officiating. Interment will be in the Rossitter Cemetery, Charlotte.
Pallbearers will be NaVon, Nathan, Kent, Neil, Ryan and Drake Rickertsen, Maurice Jensen and Bob Diercks.
She was born May 23, 1909, in Tenvick, N.D. to Jacob and Katherine Wallhof Schaefer. She married Ben Rickertsen on Sept. 27, 1931, in Hazelton, N.D. He died in 1986. She and her husband farmed for a short time and then moved to Charlotte where her husband operated a blacksmith shop. She was a homemaker and also did the bookkeeping for the blacksmith shop.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Couple's Club, 70's Society and the Clinton Garden Club.
Survivors include two sons, DaVarro and Allan Dean, both of Charlotte, seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters, Emily Weber of Texas, Mrs. Esther Hunn and Mrs. Martha Suppan of Minneapolis, Minn., and Mrs. Katherine Cousins of Clinton; a brother, Edwin Schaefer of Clinton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a grandson, five brothers and a sister.
