Obituary from Clinton Herald, p. 8, Oct. 21, 1933:

Mrs. Sarah Jordan of De Witt Dies

DeWitt, Oct. 21 (Special) - Mrs. Sarah Jordan, a life resident of this vicinity, died at 11:15 o'clock this morning in the home of her daughter, Mrs. R.B. Schlotfeldt.

The body will be removed to the home this evening from the McGinnis mortuary. Funeral services have not been made pending arrival of sons and daughters who live outside the city.

Sarah Elizabeth Nowes [sic Nowels] was born Sept. 26, 1861, in Long Grove. She married Capt. J.M. Jordan, Sept. 226, 1868, the ceremony being performed in DeWitt by the Rev. Mr. Edminister.

She is survived by the following sons and daughters. Mrs. R.E. [Catherine Miller "Kittie"] Jordan, Sutherland; L.E. [Lewis Edward] Jordan, Wagner, S.D.; Mrs. A.M. [Jessie] Chapman, Camanche; Mrs. O.E. [Edith Irene] Cain, Jefferson; Mrs. Allen [Joan Electa] Names, Denver, Colo.; John Jordan, Wayne, S. D.; Mrs. R.B. [Sara Lucinda] Schlotfeldt, DeWitt; Mrs. L.B. Reeder, Berkley, Calif., and Mrs. Charles [Florence Pauline] Murphy, Sutherland, as well as twenty-nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the Methodist church, joining that body at the age of nine.
