"Clinton -- Chris N. Ytzen, 68, died in Veteran's Administration Hospital, Iowa City, Sunday where he had been a patient since last October. He lived at 638 6th Ave. S.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Snell-Smith funeral home where friends may call after 7 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Eilert C. Nielsen, pastor of St. Stephen Lutheran Church, will officiate. Masonic services by the Delphic Chapter, Knights of Rose Croix will be held in conjunction with the services. Burial will be in the Clinton Memorial Park.
He was born Sept. 12, 1895, in Clinton, the son of Christian and Maren Christiansen Ytzen, and attended the Clinton public schools. He married Caroline Swenson Oct. 26, 1918 in Houston, Tex. He served in the U. S. Army during WW I.
Mr. Ytzen retired as an engineer from the Chicago Northwestern Railroad in 1961 after 40 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion, Emulation Lodge 255, York Rite, DeMolay Consistory, Kaaba Shrine, Clinton Shrine Club, and High Twelve. He was also a member of Order of Eastern Star, White Shrine, UCT, Gateway Barracks and B of F [Brotherhood of Foresters] and LE.
He is survived by his wife; one son, Lowell of Clinton; one daughter, Mrs. Earl (Iona) Ray, Livermore, Calif., five grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Robert (Christine) Brown, Clinton; Mrs. Maude Hanson and Mrs. Arthur (Catherine) Humburg, Clear Lake, and two brothers, Julius, Columbia, Tenn.; and Harold of Clinton."

"Clinton---Chris N. Ytzen
Funeral services for Chris N. Ytzen, 68 of 638 6th Ave. S. who died Sunday in Veteran's Administration Hospital, Iowa City, were held at 2 p.m. today in the Snell-Smith funeral home. The Rev Eilert C. Nielsen, pastor of St. Stephen Lutheran Church, officiated, Rose Croix services were conducted by Paul Eastland, Mrs. Arnold Holgaard was the organist.
American Legion services were conducted by Frank Dippo and Frank Morris representing June Van Meter Post 190. A guard of honor was formed by World War I veterans, members of Gateway Barracks 1505.
Pallbearers were Robert Redman, Harper Stauffer, John McDermott, John Crapser, Harry McBride and Carl A. Knights"
