Margery L. Carpenter, 81, of Clinton, died Monday, May 21, 2012 at Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton.

Memorial Services will be 4:00pm, Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00pm Wednesday at the funeral home. The body has been cremated and burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Margery Louise Carpenter was born on December 21, 1930 in Clinton, the daughter of George and Enid (Shadle) Dawson. She was a 1948 graduate of Clinton High School. She married Vinson Carpenter on February 1, 1953 in Clinton.

Margery was employed at Burpee Seed Company, G.E, the Clinton Garment Factory, and Nielsen’s.

Margery loved to dance and enjoyed spending time with family. She also enjoyed bowling, playing cards, camping, and fishing.

Margery is survived by her husband: Vinson of Clinton; two sons: Michael (Julie) Carpenter of Clinton, and Steven (Becky) Carpenter of Alliance, Nebraska; two daughters: Lou Ann Stahl of Clinton, and Sandra Farina of New Lenox, Illinois; 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; one brother: Donald (Janice) Dawson of Clinton; and several nieces and nephews.

Margery was preceded in death by her parents, one granddaughter, a son-in-law, one brother, and four sisters.

Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society or Mercy Hospice.
