Clinton, Iowa - Sister Mary Harriet Rump, OSF, age 83 of Clinton passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at The Alverno Health Care Facility. A Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, May 18th at The Canticle, 841 13th Ave. No. in Clinton. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:30 P.M. Thursday, May 17th at The Canticle where a Rosary will be recited at 4:00 P.M. and a Scripture Service at 6:30 P.M. Burial will be in St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be relatives, friends and members of the Sisters of St. Francis. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting.

Sister Harriet was born in Fremont, Nebraska on April 13, 1929, the daughter of Harry and Irene (Hauser) Rump. She attended St. Patrick Elementary School in Fremont and graduated from Fremont Senior High School. Sister Harriet received her A.A. Degree from Mount St. Clare College, Clinton; her B.A. and M.A. in Music with a Voice major from DePaul University, Chicago. She joined the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Francis, Clinton, Iowa on September 8, 1952 and made her final vows on August 12, 1958.

Sister Harriet spent 22 years of her active ministry in the music department of Mount St. Clare College, as a voice instructor and choral director. She also worked in the college business office for six years. Prior to working at the college, she had taught classroom music at Mount St. Clare Academy, at St. Boniface and Sacred Heart Schools, Clinton, and at St. Ann’s Lexington, Nebraska. She also served for eight years in parish ministry and school administration at St. Kieran, El Cajon; St. Anthony, Reedley; and Holy Rosary, San Bernardino; in California. She retired to The Canticle in 2002.

Sister Harriet is survived by nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and three sisters. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com
