William J. “Bill” Schwartz age 89 of Clinton passed away on Friday, May 4, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, May 9th at Zion Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 8th at the Pape Funeral Home and from 9:30 A.M. until the service time Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery.
Bill was born in Clinton on March 31, 1923, the son of Albert and Louise (Krakau) Schwartz. He graduated from Clinton High School. Bill married Lois Grantz on February 23, 1947 in Charlotte. He was employed with E.I. DuPont for 35 years. Bill was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Loyal Order of Moose, the former Odeon Club and the Fulton Country Club. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing cards with his family and was an avid Cub fan.
Bill is survived by his wife Lois; three sons, Steven W. Schwartz of Clinton, Paul A. (Kathy) Schwartz of West Des Moines and David B. (Karla) Schwartz of Clinton; five grandchildren, Angela, Ryan, Chad, William and Allison; four great grandchildren, Blake, Michael, Hannah and Logan; a sister-in-law, Marcella Grantz of Charlotte and a brother-in-law, John Brown of Clinton.
