Bernice M. Cooley, 76, of Davenport, died Monday in Allen, Texas, at the home of her daughter, Marcia Jones.
Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 Friday at the St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Mount Calvary Cemetery, Davenport.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Halligan McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home where a prayer service will be offered at 5:30 p.m.
She was born March 1, 1926, in Charlotte to John J. and Mary Skalla Scalla. She married Allen B. Cooley on Oct. 30, 1948, in Charlotte. He died in 1997.
She graduated from the former Mercy School of Nursing, Clinton. She was a registered nurse in the labor and delivery unit with the former Mercy Hospital, Davenport. She retired in 1984 after 32 years. She assisted in more than 10,000 deliveries.
She was a member of the church and the Legion of Mary. Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Foundation or Genesis Hospice.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Marcia (Paul) Jones of Allen; sons, Michael (Wanda) Cooley of Roselle, Ill., and Steven (Cathleen) Cooley of Davenport, seven grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; two stepgrandchildren; and a sister, Grace Schwarz of Clinton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and a sister.
