Services for Harris J. Meyer, 72, Clinton, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Community Congregational Church UCC. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at Pape Funeral Home, Clinton.
Mr. Meyer died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton.
He was a police officer for the city of Clinton for more than 33 years, retiring in 1988. He was promoted to patrolman first class in 1956, corporal in 1968 and sergeant in 1974. He spent several years in the detective bureau, working with juveniles.
He was born Aug. 26, 1930, in Charlotte. He married Ann Hansenin 1958 in Clinton. He married Sharon DeVries in 1997 in Clinton. He was an Army veteran, serving during the Korean War.
Memorials may be made to Community Congregational UCC or the family.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon, Clinton; daughters, Kay Leary, Waterloo, and Paula Wilson, Castle Rock, Colo.; sons, Eric, Spring, Texas, Clint, Dallas, Texas, and Neal, Centralia, Mo,; stepsons, Michael DeVries, Bowling Green, Ohio, Mark DeVries, Bellevue, Joel DeVries, Mechanicsville, and Neil DeVries, Grosse Point, Mich.; stepdaughters, Susan Huling, Miles, and Sandra Leu, Clinton; 22 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Harriett Frazier, Clinton, Gloria Bender, Davenport, and Karen Reed, Clinton; and a brother, Don of Lombard, Ill.
