Clinton, Iowa - William D. Specht age 86 of Clinton, died Monday April 23, 2012 at his home. According to family wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service, cremation rites will be accorded. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. William was born on April 12, 1926 in Ackley, IA, the son of William H. and Laura (Yocum) Specht. He attended Clinton Schools. He was a US Army veteran. William married Beverly Reynolds on Nov. 12, 1977 in Clinton. He and his father operated Specht DX / Sunoco Service Station.
He worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation as a toll collector and mechanic from 1977-1988. He worked for Custom Pak for 18 years, where he retired. He enjoyed reading, many friends, spending time with his family, and his Lord.

William is survived by his wife, Beverly of Clinton; two children, David (Susan) Specht of Charlotte and Elizabeth (Brent) Buech of Bryant; grandchildren, Jason Archer, Justin (Kacy) Archer, Elizabeth (Shawn) Stickell, Joshua (Sara) Archer, Jennifer (Chad) Specht, Megan (Al) Van Dyke, David (Talesha) Specht, Daniel Specht, Emily and Brent Buech, and Robin Arey; great grandchildren, Bret, Ariana, and Taylor Stickell, Gregory and William Van Dyke, Christopher, Mackenzie, and Noah Archer, Quintin Johnson, and Coltin Specht; sisters, Bernice Shafer of Harper, TX, Vivian (David) Maze of Camanche, Jean (Bob) Dalrymple of Clinton, and Peggy (John) Terry of Albany, IL; a brother, Paul (Lois) Specht of Fulton, IL; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
