Ira Lois Murray, 94, of Camanche, died at peace on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the Alverno - Clinton.

Memorial Services will be 11:00am, Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. A luncheon at Clinton Church of Christ will follow the service.

Ira L Murray was born on June 29, 1917 in Fair Play, Missouri, the son of Ira and Delphia (Gothard) Murray. He was a 1934 graduate of Bear Creek High School. He married Audrey Merritt on March 2, 1952 in Elmo, Missouri.

Ira had an industrious work ethic with talents in many areas. He moved to Clinton to work for Ray Dodge Automotive where he first met his wife Audrey. He worked as service manager with Machael Oil, and then operated his own shop City Service Station. Later, he sold and installed home improvement products and fencing. Lastly, he sold real estate for Paasch Realty for 12 years, retiring in 1987.

Ira had many interests and hobbies. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, camping, reading, gardening (especially tomatoes and flowers), building things in his workshop, and doing home remodeling and renovations.

Ira is survived by his wife: Audrey of Camanche; four children: Evelyn Ruth Sconce of Nixa, Missouri, Gary Kent (Macanna) Murray of Nixa, Missouri, Sharon Murray-Hoffmann of Nixa, Missouri, and Debra Ann (Thad) Gassman of University Place, Washington; 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; and a step-brother: John (Sandy) Bridges of Princeton, Iowa. Ira was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers.

Memorials may be made to the family in lieu of flowers and will be used for a memorial bench in the family cemetery.
