Clinton -
Frederick H. Reckman age 90 of Clinton passed away on Friday, April 20, 2012 at Mercy Living Center South. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, April 25th at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Honorary casket bearers will be his grandchildren.
Fred was born in Clinton on July 30, 1921, the son of Peter and Hedwig (Burde) Reckman. He served with the U.S. Navy on a minesweeper in the South Pacific during W.W. II. Fred married Beverly Reed on January 4, 1947 in Clinton. He was employed with Brandt Auto (later Heritage Motors) for over 30 years. He retired in 1982. He was a member of Chancy Lutheran Church. Fred enjoyed spending time with his family, picnics, woodworking, gardening, listening to music and fishing. He was a lifelong Chicago Cub fan.
Fred is survived by his wife Beverly; seven children, Nancy (Ray) Kappes of Waco, TX, Duane (Linda) Reckman of Sherwood, AK, Thomas (Julie) Reckman of Clinton, Diane ({Pat) Luckritz 0f Clinton, Karen (Mike) Schmidt of Cabot, AK, Ronald Reckman of Fayetteville, NC and Michael (Beth) Reckman 0f Davenport; 19 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a brother, David (Audrey) Reckman of Pharr, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Fred; a daughter, Sandra; a grandson Eric; and three sisters, Margaret, Eleanor, and Dorothy. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com
