Clinton - Michael S. Policky age 65 passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, April 7, 2012 surrounded by his loving family following a courageous 7 year battle with colon cancer. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, April 12th at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Miles Cemetery.
Mike was born in Sidney, Nebraska on December 29, 1946, the son of Joseph S. and Helen S. (Carlson) Policky. He graduated from Potter High School, Potter, Nebraska, attended the University of Nebraska and received his BA degree in Biology from Chadron State College, Chadron, Nebraska. Following his graduation Mike enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served as a medical lab tech from 1971 to 1975.
Mike married Lorraine K. Roach on August 9, 1975 in Clinton. He was employed by Mercy Hospital in Clinton for 23 years. Mike enjoyed spending time with his family, vacationing in Nebraska and Colorado, bird watching, walking on the dike and camping. He bowled for many years before his illness and was a team member of the 1988 Clinton City Tournament Champs. Mike was a big fan of John Wayne and enjoyed watching all westerns, especially stories by Louis L’Amour.
Mike is survived by his loving wife and soul mate Lorraine; a son Jeffrey and his wife Megan (Vens) of Chicago; his mother, Helen Policky of Sidney, NE; two brothers, Gary (Zoann) Policky of Los Gatos, CA and Dr. David (Maureen) Policky of Lincoln, NE; a sister, Patty (Dennis) Slama of Potter, NE; brother-in-law, Gary Roach of Wayne, PA; sister-in-law, Diane (Dean) Boyce of Clinton; nephews John Policky, Jake, Joe, and Jed Policky, Dan Boyce; nieces Kiyas Dunn, Donica Hassler, Tamra Johnston, Haley O’Hare and Jennifer and Lori Policky and great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Joe Policky; mother-in-law Loretta Roach; sister-in-law Jill Beving Roach; brother-in-law Dennis Roach and a nephew Brian Policky.
