Clinton, Iowa - Edward F. Hayes, Jr., age 72 of Clinton died Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Mercy Living Center North in Clinton. Cremation rites will be accorded. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 6:30 P.M on Monday, February 27th at the Pape Funeral Home where a Memorial Service will begin at 6:30 P.M. Private burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.

Ed was born in Clinton on August 22, 1939, the son of Edward F. and Maxine (Meader) Hayes, Sr. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1957. Hired as a General Worker with Lord Baltimore Press, he worked his way up to Senior Pressmen in the Litho Department with International Paper until his retirement. He was a member of the NRA and the Illowa Citizens Band Radio Club. He enjoyed target shooting, eagle watching, music, and was an old movie buff.

Ed is survived by two daughters, Wendy (James) Shelton of Carl Junction, Missouri and Kimberly Hayes of Joplin, Missouri; a son Alex (Allea) Hayes of Joplin; six grandchildren, Joshua (his wife Stephanie), Chelsea, Christina, Michael, Lake and Nathaniel; a sister, Linda Hayes of Broadlands, Virginia; two brothers, David (Jane) Hayes and Joe (Anita) Hayes both of Clinton; three nieces, Nina (her husband David), Molly, and Audrey and a nephew, Levi. He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Chad Hayes.
