Anne (Mrs. Stanley) Calhoun, 70, of rural DeWitt, Iowa, died in her home Sunday evening, March 4, 2012, surrounded by her loving husband and children.
Mrs. Calhoun, the former Earlene Anne Buzard, was born February 20, 1942, to James and Marjorie (Langley) Buzard in Brazil, Indiana. She graduated from Moline High School in 1960. On September 10, 1960, Anne was united in marriage to Stanley Calhoun at the First Baptist Church, East Moline, Illinois. Anne worked as a nurse’s aid at Westwing Place before becoming a fulltime homemaker. In 1984, her son Tim suffered a spinal cord injury and Anne spent the following 27 years lovingly caring for him in their home. Anne enjoyed gardening, going to garage sales, relaxing at the casinos, interior decorating, scrap-booking, camping and spending time with Stan and their children and grandchildren. Shortly after her son, Tim’s death on September 14, 2011, Anne was diagnosed with cancer, which she endured with courage and dignity through the help of her loving family.
Surviving are her devoted husband of 51 years, Stan; their children, Kevin Calhoun of Clinton, Iowa, Bryan Calhoun of Low Moor, Iowa, and girlfriend, Julie Wisong of Clinton, Lori Holst and her husband, Tim of Eldridge, Iowa, and Nicole Calhoun and her fiancé, Chris LeMaster of Davenport, Iowa; grandchildren, Haley, Garrett and Wyatt Holst, Carly and Chase LeMaster; her mother, Marge Buzard of Moline, Illinois; a brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Crystal Buzard of East Moline; a sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Dean Corbin of Moline; her two beloved Maltese dogs, Abigail and Sammy, a special friend, Sandy Miller of DeWitt, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her son, Tim, Anne was further preceded in death by her father, an infant brother, Jimmy and numerous aunts and uncles.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2012. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2012 in the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.
Pallbearers will be Derrick and Morgan Calhoun, Todd and Kyle Sebben, Aaron Buzard and Russell Miller.
