Emmett R. Bowers, Jr., 62, of DeWitt, Iowa, died Saturday evening, February 11, 2012 at home.

Emmett Ross Bowers, Jr. was born February 26, 1949 in Muscatine, Iowa to Emmett and Dorothy (Steinke) Bowers. He was employed by J.I. Case in Bettendorf, Iowa, for 10 years. Emmett moved to Texas where he worked various job. He retired two years ago as owner/operator of a laundry service. Emmett returned to Iowa in 2010.

Surviving are children, Shawn (Kelli) Bowers of North Liberty, Iowa, and Jill Bowers of Marion, Iowa; siblings, Cecelia Schulz of Iowa City, Iowa, Eldon (Phyllis) Bowers of Eldridge, Iowa, Russell (Leanna) Bowers of Wheatland, Iowa, Tommy (Kathy) Bowers of Hills, Iowa, Patti (Duane) Fuller of Baytown, Texas; Pamela Fitzgerald of Lowden, Iowa, Sandra Rung of Wheatland; step-father, Harvey Lohse of Wheatland; numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding Emmett in death were his parents and a sister, Lynn Bell.

Emmett has donated his body to the University of Iowa for anatomical study.
