The Clinton Herald Thursday September 29, 1988 p. 24 Clarence J. "Buck" Fatchett, 75, of DeWitt, died Wednesday in Denver, Colo. The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Schultz-McGinnis Funeral Home, DeWitt, with the Rev. Fred Pierce officiating. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jack Martin, Bob Muhs, Jim Lee, Greg Oldsen, Nile Kinsler and Bob Hansen. Honorary pallbearers will be Irv Fletcher, Bill Wulf, Don Oefterborg, Harold Smith, Lloyd Gluesing and Charles Muhs. Mr. Fatchett was born June 24, 1913, in DeWitt, to John and Frances Shockey. He married Emma DePaepe, Dec. 5, 1934, in DeWitt. She died in 1963. He later married Mildred Fey, Aug. 1, 1964, in Grand Mound. He was employed 30 years for the I.J. Case plant, retiring in 1973. Mr. Fatchett was a member of the United Methodist Church; DeWitt Moose Lodge where he received the Pilgrim Degree of Merit on May 29, 1983, which is the LOOM's highest degree. He became a 50-year member of the lodge on May 12, 1966. He was a charter member of Wapsi Valley Izaak Walton League and in 1964 received the TOPIN award for outstanding service to it's local chapter. He was a member of the Clinton County Sportsman Club and served 30 years on the DeWitt Volunteer Fire Department, with 20 of those years as first assistant to the chief. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Janis) Black, of Buena Park, Calif; three sons, Jack of Parker Colo., Jim of Tulsa, Okla., and Joe of Midwest City, Okla.; a step-daughter, Mrs. Jim (Carol) Clark, of DeWitt; a stepson, Russ Fey, of Grand Mound; 11 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant grandchild and two brothers.
