Gilbert L. Schroeder, 75, of Goose Lake, died Saturday at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Pape Funeral Home, with the Rev. Wayne Brinkman officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Following burial services, there will be lunch served at the Millennium in Goose Lake.
Pallbearers will be Dale, David, Glenn, Shawn and Jason Rathje and Gary Schoeder.
He was born Dec. 13, 1927, in rural Clinton to Ernest and Augusta Jurgensen Schroeder.
He was a Korean War veteran. He served with the 3rd Engineer Battalion.
He farmed near Goose Lake before retiring in 1996. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Clinton, and American Legion Post 602, Preston.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Vernetta (Merle) Rathje of Clinton; two brothers, Raymond (Arlene) Schroeder of Charter Oak and LeRoy Schroeder of Clinton; and 10 nieces and nephews.
