Jacob Lee Williams, 15, of Charlotte died Thursday, June 5, 2003, following a courageous three-year battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 9, at 10 a.m., at Church of the Open Door in Clinton. The Rev. James Machen Sr. will officiate.
Interment will be in Rossiter Cemetery, Charlotte.
Visitation is Sunday, June 8, 2-6 p.m. at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt.
Jacob Williams was born Dec. 9, 1987 to Charles "Chuck" III and Jennifer Barfels Williams.
His strong faith was shown through his thoughtfulness and compassion toward others, and also made his illness more bearable.
He was a baptized member of the Church of the Open Door, Clinton.
He had just completed his freshman year at Northeast High School, Goose Lake, where he was an honor student and played trombone in the band. He was an excellent artist and enjoyed drawing cartoons.
He was a wonderful big brother to his siblings whom he loved dearly.
Surviving are his parents; brothers, Grant, Carson, Tyler and Trevor; sisters, Cheyenne and Jessica; grandparents, Clara Williams of Charlotte, Betty and Tom Hogue of Davenport and Jay and Pat Barfels of Bellevue; great-grandparents, Lester and Winona Barfels of Reinbeck; aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund has been established.
