David H. Sivright Sr. 1923 - 2012

BIGFORK, Mont. — David H. Sivright Sr., age 88, passed away Saturday February 4, 2012, at his Bigfork, MT, residence.

David was born February 11, 1923, to Harry and Mary Sivright in Minneapolis, MN. He attended Westminster College in Columbia, MO, before entering the U.S. Army during WW II. He had served with the Occupational Forces in Japan. He married Dorothy Harrington in 1943. Following his discharge from the Army, he was employed by the J.C. Penny Company, eventually becoming a store manager. He resigned in the late 1960s and moved to Clinton, IA, where he was employed by R.G. Dickinson, Inc. as a stock broker.

His marriage ended in divorce and in 1970 he married Dorothy “Dode” Mirick. They moved to Glenwood Springs, CO, in 1974, where they owned and operated Coors Western Slope, Inc. In 1986, they moved to Indian Wells, CA, and later purchased a home in Bigfork, MT, to spend their summers there. They became full-time residents of Bigfork, MT, in 2008.

David enjoyed spending time with his family, playing golf, bridge, games and crossword puzzles and traveling with Dode. He will lovingly be remembered for his outgoing personality and generous nature.

David was preceded in death by his wife, Dode, on August 2, 2011; 2 children, Timothy and Laura; sister, Mary Ramsay; and grandson, Mats Mirick.

He is survived by sons David Jr. of Clinton, IA; Peter of Southport, Queensland, Australia; stepchildren, Mary (Jim) Fleming of Mesa, AZ; Dr. Mark Mirick of Wausau, WI; Erik Mirick of Glenwood Springs, CO; Ann (Curt) Kempton of Bigfork, MT; brother, John A. Sivright of Winnetka, IL, and Vero Beach, FL; 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service for David will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home in Kalispell, MT.
