The Clinton Herald Saturday December 13, 2003 p. 9A Claude W. Morris, 97, of Clinton, died Friday at Mercy North Hospital in Clinton. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Connie Peake officiating. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to the service time Monday at the church. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig-Dennis A. Lemke Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of local arrangements. Serving as pallbearers will be Chuch Rutledge, Doug Pennock, Richard Sykes, Don Kolsrud, Herman Dierks, and Tom McLaughlin. He was born on Nov. 23, 1906, in Charleston, W. Va., the son of Lemual and Anna (Young) Morris. He married Leora Wehrli on Sept. 19, 1931, in Marysville, Neb. He was an engineer for 48 years with the Chicago Northwestern Railroad, retiring in 1976. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, and he was awarded a Lifetime Membership of Locomotive Engineers. He is survived by his wife, Leora of Clinton; one son, Gary (Marcia) Morris of Temple Terrace, Fla.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and one brother. The family requests that memorials be made in lieu of flowers to the First Presbyterian Church. Death date: Dec. 12, 2003.
