The Clinton Herald Monday April 24, 1950 p 12 Jack M. Spooner, 1707 Roosevelt street, state factory inspector and president of the local and district International Association of Machinists, died Sunday morning in Jane Lamb hospital. He had been in the hospital for a week. Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the First Congregational church. The Rev. Verne A. Spindeil will officiate. A service will be conducted by Delphic chapter, Knights of Rose Croix. The body is in the Shadduck funeral home where an Odd Fellow service will be conducted tonight at 8 o'clock. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery. Mr. Spooner was born here June 11, 1919, the son of L.E. and Viola Corbett Spooner. He attended school here and became a tool and die maker. On Feb. 1 of this year he was appointed a state factory inspector by the Iowa labor board. Mr. Spooner married Miss Ruth Hardiman of Cedar Rapids in 1942. He was a member of the Congregational church, Emulation lodge, 255, A.F. and A.M., Demolay consistory, Holy Cross commandery Knights Templar, America lodge 567, I.O.O.F. He is survived by a son, Jack T.; his parents; four brothers, Harry of Clinton, Donovan of Marshalltown, Arza of Sterling, Ill., and Rex of Clinton; three sisters, Mrs. Cecil (Ida) Wixom of Brandon, Mrs. Leslie (Grace) Kofahl of Clinton, and Mrs. Marvin (Lois) Jech of Clinton, and several nieces and nephews. A brother, sister and one son preceded him in death.
