Ronald Albert Fischer
(May 10, 1926 - March 17, 2005)

Ronald A. Fischer, 78, Grand Mound, Iowa, died Thursday morning, March 17, 2005 at Wheatland Manor, Wheatland, Iowa.

Ronald Albert Fischer was May 10, 1926 in Rural Elwood, Iowa, the son of Albert and Lillian (Busch) Fischer. Ron served in the Army during the Korean Era. He married Marjorie Wagener May 1, 1949 in Maquoketa, Iowa. Ron farmed at Toronto, Welton and DeWitt for many years. From 1978 until his retirement in 1991, he worked for the Clinton County Secondary Road Department.

He was a member of the Grand Mound American Legion Post. Ron loved his family dearly and the time he could spend with them. He enjoyed sports, especially attending his grandchildren's sporting events and was a fan of the Iowa Hawkeye's.

Surviving are his loving wife of nearly 56 years, Marge; his children and their spouses, Rick and Terri Fischer, Grand Mound; Julie and Jim McCulloh, West Des Moines, Iowa; Dave and Gail Fischer, DeWitt; twelve grandchildren, Maggie (Scott) Grinstead, Mandy (Mike) Thiel, Michael Fischer and Will Fischer, Abbie (Jim) Pietruszynski, Katie (Mike) Abbott and Tim McCulloh, Troy (Evie) Fischer, Abe Fischer and Brooke Fischer, Marty Fischer and Trish (Doug) Hedin; seven great-grandchildren, Jacob and Allison Grinstead and Benjamin Thiel, Leo Pietruszynski, Ty Fischer and McKinzie Fischer and Karlee Hedin; a brother, Harold Fischer and his wife, Tillie, Wheatland; a sister-in-law, Jackie Fischer, Lost Nation; a special friend of the family, Kim Sparks, DeWitt.

Ron was preceded in death by a son, Randy Fischer in 1975, by his parents, a brother, Kenny and a daughter-in-law, Marla Fischer.

Family and friends may visit at Schultz Funeral Home, Grand Mound, from 3 until 7 p.m. Sunday, March 20, 2005. Funeral service 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 21, 2005 at the Funeral Home. Interment at Elwood Cemetery. Grand Mound American Legion Post #622 will conduct military rites. Memorials are suggested to Clinton County Hospice, DeWitt, or Camp Courageous.

Pallbearers will be Marty Fischer, Troy Fischer, Tim McCulloh, Michael Fischer, Abe Fischer, Will Fischer and Chuck Fey.
