Ethel Irene Fatchett
(April 14, 1910 - December 7, 2006)

Mrs. Ethel I. Fatchett, 96, DeWitt, Iowa, died Thursday morning, December 7, 2006 at Westwing Place, DeWitt.

Mrs. Fatchett, formerly Ethel Irene Atkinson was born April 14, 1910 in rural DeWitt, Clinton County, Iowa, to William and Lucetta (Smith) Atkinson. She married Clyde Fatchett February 5, 1930 in DeWitt. He preceded her in death in January of 1969.

She was a member of DeWitt United Methodist Church for over 50 years. Ethel had also been a member of the Eastern Star, the Loyal Order of Moose and many card clubs. She enjoyed fishing, cooking, knitting, embroidering, crocheting, canning fruits and vegetables.

Surviving are her daughters, Dorothy Meggers, DeWitt, and Marilyn Springer, Davenport, Iowa; her son and daughter-in-law, William and Karen Fatchett, DeWitt; 14 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, 20 great- great-grandchildren; her sister, Blanche Behr, DeWitt, and sisters-in-law, Ella Atkinson, Michigan, and Mildred Fatchett, DeWitt.

In addition to her husband, Clyde, Ethel, was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Wilma Clubb and brothers, Melvin, Arthur, and Lee Atkinson.

The family will receive friends from 2 until 5 p.m. Sunday, December 10, 2006 at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. Funeral service 11 a.m. Monday, December 11, 2006 in United Methodist Church, DeWitt. The Rev. James Kledis will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.

Pallbearers will be Mark Meggers, Ross Meggers, Douglas Springer, Dean Springer, Ronald Lippens, Douglas Lippens. Honorary pallbearers will be granddaughters.

Memorials may be left to the DeWitt United Methodist Church or the donor's favorite charity.
