The Clinton Herald Obituary 1914-2003

GRAND MOUND - Roberta A. Claussen, 89, Grand Mound, died Thursday at Westwing Place, DeWitt. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. on Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Grand Mound. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 until 5 p.m. on Sunday at Schultz Funeral Home, Grand Mound. Pallbearers will be George Henningsen, Alan Henningsen, David Grantz, Dennis Stolk, Chuck Claussen and Dean Geise.

She was born Oct. 3, 1914, in Preston to Henry and Lena Hansen Lamp. On June 1, 1938, she was united in marriage to Robert Charles Claussen in Preston. They farmed near Grand Mound.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Grand Mound, where she had been a LWML League Member and had been on the District Board of LWML. She was Clinton County spelling bee organizer, chariman of the American Heart Association for 20 years, on the Clinton County Board of Health, Clinton County School Board, "Mother of the Year" in Clinton County and runner-up "Mother of Year" for the State of Iowa, Chairman of Ladies Farm Bureau Clinton and Chairman of DeWitt Republican Womens organization.

Survivors include three sons, Robert (Linda) Claussen Jr., Grand Mound, Dr. Richard (Linda) Claussen, Dubuque, and Ronald (Donna) Claussen, Grand Mound; eight grandchildren: six great-grandchildren; one sister, Donna Mae Manikowski, Maquoketa.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister and an infant brother. Memorials may be left to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation. Online condolences may be left at www.schultzfuneralhomes.com.
